1250 is a 53-seater Leyland Tiger, new to Ulsterbus in September 1989 as part of a batch of 103 Tigers delivered in 1989.

 

1250, registration ‘OXI 1250’ is quite a historical vehicle as it was the last Leyland engine’d N-type to enter service in February 1990 and the last to enter with the Mk1 Ulsterbus livery. 1250 Was a prototype to the ‘new and improved’ Q Type buses, to be delivered several years later. 1250 featured an improved up to date interior with DIP-TAC handrails, and several new commodities. It also featured a revised interior with the ‘spotty dick’ seats, grey seat frames and maroon laminate side walls.

 

1250’s Chassis number is ‘TR00462’ and has an Alexanders N Type ‘DP53F’ body. The bus also was the first of the N types to have a kneeling suspension, for ease of boarding. It spent just under 20 years in service until being withdrawn as recent as April 2009.

 

In June of the same year, 1250 was entered into preservation, being bought by a multitude of private owners before entering the hands of Tommy Mitchell, Manchester in 2014, latterly passing to Nigel Glenholmes in 2016, and has been considered one of the core group buses ever since.
